Enjoy the view on your vacation to Kennebunkport Maine!

Today the temperatures soared over 65 degrees today in Kennebunkport, Maine, which means it’s time to plan your summer vacation!

Personally, I’m just not good at the whole “spontaneous” thing. So, for me, that means I’ve got to plan.  And since you’ve already decided to hit the road for a coastal Maine vay-cay, I’ve put together a few questions/answers to help guide your efforts.

  • When? July and August are prime time in Kennebunkport — there’s no question about that. June is ideal if you are more into sand than surf because the water is still a little chilly.  The Kennebunkport Festival kicks off summer officially during the first week of June, and that means that all your favorite eats and activities are already in full swing, but at bargain prices — our Early Summer Special starts at just $169 per night! Looking to enjoy some peace and quite on the Maine Coast? Consider early September, which is known for peak water temps and a slower pace as the kids have headed back to school and the peak of fall foliage colors haven’t hit yet.
  • Looking for a good sunset? Whether you’re on a romantic getaway or family vacation, add “sunset watching” to your itinerary! With miles and miles of Atlantic coastline, there are countless perfect spots for your sunset photo-op.
  • Midweek or weekend? Midweek visits tend to feel a little more laid back than weekend ones, but time away from work can be harder to snag than a quick weekend escape.
  • How long? Your to-do list keeps growing and the important people in your life are all vying for your attention, but you deserve some time to just rest, relax, and recharge. After you check off all the must-dos on your list (think shopping, beach time, sightseeing, etc.), that doesn’t leave much time for R&R. So no matter how long you think you should spend in Maine, add a day or two – you won’t regret it!
  • Who’s coming? Is this going to be a family vacation or mini-honeymoon part two? We know from experience, combining the two doesn’t work too well for anyone. So it’s definitely best to decide early. And if you’re going to leave the tykes at home, work on the baby sitting situation early so that your kiddos don’t end up joining in the cuddle sessions during your romantic getaway!

I hope this helps get the wheels turning for your Maine vacation! When you’re ready, give our Maine Stay Inn a call and let us know what kind of mood you’re going for. We’ll be happy to help!
